Drop-Off Services for Your Pet

Southpaw Animal Health recognizes that we live in a hectic, fast-paced world, and that is why we offer daily Drop-Off Services.  Whether you need your pet to be vaccinated or have a bump checked by his or her doctor, you may leave your pet with us for the day while you work, shop, or take care of other business.   This service is provided for your convenience. However, if you anticipate needing to discuss your pet’s health with his or her doctor, then a scheduled appointment is best for you since your pet will be discharged by one of our technicians and not a doctor.

Pet owners whose pets require critical care are required to see a veterinarian on an appointment, emergency, or walk-in basis.  We do not allow pet owners to drop their pets off in critical condition as the veterinarians will need to converse with each pet owner in depth as the doctor assesses these patients.

Although this service is very convenient for many of our clients, it is sometimes rather inconvenient for pets, so please be certain that your pet has a disposition that is suited to spending the day with us.  Southpaw does not have a boarding facility, so our accommodations are not as luxurious as some pets may prefer.  We have a limited quantity of Drop-Off appointment slots available each day that fill quickly, so please make sure to book well in advance for your needs.

What to Expect

We offer Drop-Off services Monday through Friday, and we require your pet to be admitted to our hospital between 7:30am and 8:30am.  We require clients to give themselves plenty of time for this process to ensure that all questions or concerns are addressed in a manner that will give our veterinarians ample information to complete your requests to your satisfaction.  A treatment release form may be completed prior to arrival.

Most Drop-Off patients will be released after 4pm.  However, this may not always be possible.  A doctor or technician will be in touch with each pet owner in regards to the patient’s visit and will inform each owner when his or her pet will be available for release.

Many pet owners ask why Southpaw requires an admittance time so early in the morning when many pets usually are not seen by the veterinarian until noontime.  The answer is very simple, actually. Our technicians assist their doctors in exam rooms for the morning and are unavailable for admittance once our appointments begin at 9am.  Also, many of the patients who visit us on a Drop-Off basis require bloodwork or other preliminary evaluations to be performed.  Our technicians perform these services prior to the beginning of our appointment time so that the patients are prepared to see their doctors once the noontime examinations begin.  And sometimes our veterinarians are able to instruct their technicians to perform preliminary procedures once they’ve seen who is visiting with us for the day and what procedures will be performed.

We serve dogs, cats and exotic animals.
